   OUR HISTORY

The Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce of Georgia (BACC-GA) is a non-profit organization founded in 1996 by a team of Brazilians led by Jaime Araújo, Eduardo DiLascio, Renato DeMoraes, Rose Estácio and Lucia Jennings. The objectives of the organization are to showcase Brazil in the Southeastern US, to facilitate the entry of Brazilian firms in the area and to support U.S. firms entering Brazilian markets.

To achieve these goals, the organization promotes seminars, workshops, and a variety of other events to gather representatives of both Brazilian and American companies in a mutual effort to understand the business environment of each country. Other activities include maintaining contact with Brazilian and American authorities and with other chambers of commerce throughout the US and Brazil. Our purpose is to stay abreast of initiatives adopted by the Brazilian government that could be of interest to our members and associates, to be a good source of information about Brazil to our US members and to offer general information about Georgia to Brazilian citizens, whether they are Georgia residents or not.

Presently the BACC-GA has approximately 100 associates including large, medium and small companies, as well as individuals wishing to keep close contact with the multiple aspects of the Brazilian business, economy, and culture. Our Board of Directors composed of 20 members is elected and holds office for 2 years.

The 2003-2004 executive officers are:

President - Cristina Chie Tyldum
Chairman of the Board - Nathan Forrester - Georgia Pacific Corporation
Treasurer - Lucia Jennings - The Coca-Cola Company
Secretary - Julia Forrester - Georgia Pacific Corporation

Contributions of individual volunteers are essential to the operation and development of the organization. Volunteers serve on three committees: Communications, Events and Membership, or work on special projects. Our doors are constantly open to new volunteers, whether or not they are current members of the Chamber.
